Hello again everyone,
Foxbody Mustangs have basically consumed my workbench as of recently. I got this one on eBay from a Thrift Store somewhere. The box was badly tattered, its missing the decal sheet, and it needs a set of wheels. But, the price was right and the car fit the mood.
So far I've stripped some chrome plating off of a bunch of engine components, started removing all the casting flash and seam lines from the body, and got the engine components to a point of primer. Big plans for this one guys!
Ruined box
Everything being saved for the build.
New, much safer home!
First day of work was basically cleaning the stripped chrome parts I had from the night before, clipping, trimming and prepping parts for paint, and mocking up the body, chassis and interior pan.
One of the things this kit lacked from the factory is any detail for springs in the front an rear suspension. I've really gotten into modifying basic parts lately so I decided to make my own. I constructed a little tool to evenly coil the wire out of sprue and got to work.
Couple of days later I got some paint work done, AND I used some scale ignition wire for the first time. Pretty happy with the results.
Wheel selection!
After painting all of those parts, I assembled the engine and got to wiring the ignition system.
Well... One thing that's been driving me nuts lately is stock exhausts in these kits. So before after getting the chassis and suspension parts painted, I wanted to have an exhaust system sorted out. So I grabbed the sprue box and started to bend and assemble a Catless H-Pipe.
Got the turn-downs made and the exhaust wrapped up. Just needs paint and mounting.
And here is a teaser of the stance after I fixed the rear wheel poke.
Paint coming soon!
Going to wrap up with post with the exterior color selected for this car.
Thanks for looking!
